A boat trip in the brackish Lagoon at Oviedo. Because the lagoon is so shallow, the boatman gets out to push and the trip is quiet enough to bring one very close to Flamingoes and Roseate Spoonbills as well as other waders. The trip could also include continuing down the lagoon to an island where one can see the native iguanas…up close and personal….bring fruit! This is about an hour and a half west of the hotel, but an early start is required to avoid the winds that pick up mid morning. There is time to return to Santo Domingo in the afternoon. Price: $100 for boat and local guide.
