LOGISTIC AND PRICES

CARS: A 4x4 is needed and most vehicles run about $US185 a day.

GAS: At time of writing, about $US5.00 a gallon averaging $60 a day

FOOD: I pack a picnic breakfast and lunch for the days we are in the field and estimate about $20 per person per day. Food choices to be discussed. Dinners are about $20-30

HOTELS: Santo Domingo:
a. Hotel Embajador. Top of the line hotel with 300+ parakeets roosting outside every night. $160-single and $185-double(breakfast is included and this is our brunch on Day 2).
b. Hotel Palacio, Calle Duarte 106. Very attractive older hotel in the Colonial Zone, within walking distance of historical sites, the Amber Museum and many restaurants. Strongly recommend booking by internet as they offer discounts with this service.
Less expensive options are available.

Barahona Area Hotel:
c. Hotel El Quemaito: Built next to the seaside in a natural palm grove, this hotel has a well-tended garden and swimming pool. US$ 28 for double occupancy and US$ 50 for single occupancy (includes breakfast). Options of Air-condition and multiple bedrooms available. Extra charges applicable during Christmas from Dec. 15th – Jan. 15th.

GUIDE FEES
I charge $200 per day for 4 persons, and $50 additional for each additional pair.
